Friends of First Hand Aid,
As the chilly air and a few snowflakes herald the advance of winter that never fails to find and envelop us, we look back on a difficult year. We struggled through a year of political turmoil, searching for racial and ethnic justice and dodging the scourge of the Covid pandemic. We approach the holiday season with more fatigue than joy, yet as the first shipments of the vaccine are sent out we feel a surge of hope.
I pause each day to stand outdoors, take a deep breath without a mask, and inventory our many blessings. A warm home, food on the table, the love of family and friends, are but a few of these. In turn I reflect on those who lack these comforts, especially the vulnerable Cuban families to whom we bring medicine, food, and hope. I trust that in the coming months we will be able to exchange real hugs with them as well as our own families.
I thank each of you who has given so generously to First Hand Aid to help our mission succeed. I hope you will join me in putting a difficult 2020 behind us, and look ahead to a happy and healthy 2021.
With these thoughts in our hearts we can embrace some joy in our lives during the holidays. Thank you for being our faithful friends. We wish you a Holiday celebration filled with joy and laughter.
As our year comes to a close we continue to ask you to think of us in your giving of year end gifts as well as your thoughts for our work and care of the Cuban people.
