FAQ
WHEN IS HAVANA CLUB RIDE?
TBD
WHERE DOES THE RIDE START?
TBD
WHEN DOES REGISTRATION OPEN?
Registration typically opens early in the calendar year. We close online registration a few days out to allow us time to get our onsite paperwork ready. Yes, walk-up registration is available on ride day!
DO YOU LIMIT THE REGISTRATION FIELD?
Typically, we do not limit our registrants. Should circumstances require us to limit the field, we will announce it here and via our Facebook page. Havana Club Ride is a self-started tour (not a race).
CAN I GIVE MY REGISTRATION TO SOMEONE ELSE?
Yes. We allow for one name change per registration. We have enabled this feature in BikeReg; please follow their guidelines for doing so. We require the new rider adhere to the rider agreement.
WHERE DO I CHECK IN ON RIDE DAY?
TBD
WHAT AM I PICKING UP, EXACTLY?
Each rider is required to wear a (not paper!) bracelet for the duration of the ride. This helps us identify you on the road, and at our rest stops to ensure only registered riders are enjoying the goods there.
We will also have limited copies of the map and/or tip sheet for the course of your choosing.
WHAT ARE THE ROUTES?
TBD
I NEED TO CANCEL MY REGISTRATION. CAN I GET A REFUND?
Havana Club Ride is a fundraising event. In return, your registration fees become donations for these charities. We procure food based on our registration trends, and we cannot adjust our guarantees. So, no refunds. You can transfer your registration to someone else.
HOW EARLY/HOW LATE CAN I START RIDING?
We STRONGLY recommend that faster, more serious cyclists start as close to 7:00 a.m. as possible. You can start earlier, but you do so with the knowledge that you may hit our rest stops before they’re fully set up and ready for you.
WHAT IS THERE TO EAT + DRINK?
Each rest stop will provide a selection of typical ride food: PB&Js, salty snacks, fruit, etc. There is also water and hydration powder to add to your bottles.
I’VE GOT A DIETARY RESTRICTION (GLUTEN, DAIRY, ETC.). WILL YOU HAVE FOOD FOR ME?
Our team of volunteers and donors do their best to provide options for all riders. That being said, if you have a severe allergy, we recommend bringing your own food on the ride. We do our best to avoid cross-contamination, but we cannot guarantee it. If you’re worried about it, please bring your own food with you. If you would like to make arrangements for the food to be at the stop for you, send a note to havanaclubride@gmail.com and let’s talk.
WHAT IF SOMEONE I’M WITH HAS A FLAT TIRE, CRASH, OR OTHER INCIDENT?
1. Secure the scene. If you can, move safely off the road, and if possible be sure you’re still visible to cars. If you can’t move from the road, ensure other riders stop to help alert cars to stop.
2. If it’s a flat tire or other mechanical issue that you don’t have the supplies or know-how to fix, please note your location (a great tip is to open a map app on your phone and screen shot your current location) and then call or text the number on your map/tip sheet. We’ll dispatch the nearest SAG vehicle to come help you, and if necessary, transport you and your bike to the nearest rest stop for bike mechanic help. Please note, SAG cannot transport tired riders--only those with legitimate mechanical issues.
3. If it’s an injury, assess the situation. If it’s an emergency, dial 911 immediately. If it’s less severe, call the dispatch number and let’s talk about how best to help you. There are self-serve first-aid kits at all rest stops for minor injuries. We cannot transport injured riders.
